My name is Dr. Jessie and I am the owner of Restoration Physical Therapy in Malibu. I am dedicated to helping you get back to a living a pain free life and keep you as active and mobile as possible. I have over 20 years of orthopedic/sports medicine experience working with all populations including professional and recreational athletes (professional surfers, skiers, snowboarders, baseball players, tennis players, golfers, etc), pediatrics, and seniors. I have worked with many of the local high school and college athletes in the rehabilitation of injuries, as well as injury prevention.
For as long as I can remember I have been intrigued and amazed by the human body. That, in combination with my love of science and learning, I knew I would put this to use some day and pursue a career in health care. I began my career at a young age as a personal trainer certified through the National Academy of Sports Medicine. I went on to obtain a Bachelor of Science degree, followed by a Master Degree in Physical Therapy from California State University, Northridge. Later I completed a post-professional doctorate program specializing in musculoskeletal disorders, earning my Doctor of Physical Therapy degree. In addition to years of clinical experience, I am certified in Applied Functional Science® through the Gray Institute, Kiniso® and Sport Taping, and Graston® technique (instrument-assisted soft tissue mobilization). I have had advanced training in foot biomechanics and gait, functional soft tissue mobilization, Mulligan mobilization, McKenzie Method® of Mechanical Diagnosis and Therapy® (MDT), and have completed many continuing education courses in functional and corrective exercises.
When not in the clinic you can find me outside with my family and camera in hand. We love traveling and living a healthy, active lifestyle. Being an avid surfer, snowboarder, and mountain biker myself I've had a few of my own injuries! I know first-hand how frustrating it can be when you can't do what you want to do. I will do my best to help you achieve your goals, whether it is returning to your sport or playing with your grandkids…and everything in between. Don’t let pain and immobility stop you… Call or email today to discuss your treatment and get back to doing what you love to do! ~Dr. Jessie Risk, PT, DPT - Owner
